Surfing: Llanrhystud, Cardigan Bay Wind Direction: SE Wind Stength: 12 knots Surf / Sea State: 3-4 foot clean surf Air Temperature: 7C Sea Temperature: 7.5C Weather: Sunny, then rain Max Speed: Distance Covered:
I could see the surf was good on the way to work, so after a couple of
hours working I decided to head down the coast to Llanrhystud. When I got
there it was raining, the surf was 2-3 foot and the tide a litle too high
so I drove down the coast a little more. I was intrigued by a lefthander at
Morfa Mawr so decided to investigate and sure enough it looked pretty good,
but it was a long walk and the nearest place to park was flooded, so I
headed back to Llanrhystud.
Now the surf was still around 3 foot but the tide had started to drop a
little and the waves were beginning to line up. I went out on my 6'6" board
and had a few waves on my own before Adrian came out. The two of use then
surfed for about an hour as the swell picked up and the surf improved.
Later another 4-5 people came out and the surf was now 3-4 foot and the
waves peeling for a good 200 yds along the point.
I was getting pretty cold by now and had to get back to work, so headed
back in. As I was getting changed I could see just how good the waves
were.. A couple of feet overhead on the face and long walled up waves
peeling perfectly along the point... If only they were right-handers!
I watched Baxter and a couple of others catch a few waves and then headed
off to work with the heater on trying to thaw out.
Only 3 stars though as I wasn't surfing too well today.
